West Harbour School is a Positive Behaviour for Learning school (PB4L).
Positive Behaviour for Learning initiatives help parents, whānau, teachers and schools address problem behaviour, improve children’s well-being, and increase educational achievement. We do this through focusing on the positive attributes each child brings and teaches them the skills needed to problem solve and make good decisions.
By strengthening relationships and creating a more positive school environment, we remove barriers to engagement and improve students’ chances to achieve at school and beyond.
When students enrol they are placed into a whānau house group. Points are awarded in class, during breaks and for schoolwide events throughout the year. House points are announced weekly and the winning house each week is recognised. At the end of the term, the overall winning house is rewarded.
